Lewis Hamilton has paid tribute to his honorary Brazilian citizenship, reminiscing on the event as a "tremendous honour". "Racing with this flag on my helmet means the absolute world to me."

That race saw the 40-year-old drive around with a Brazilian flag on the cooldown lap, as well as hold it aloft on the podium, cementing the huge cnnection he has with the Suth American country and his fans.
On Instagram, Hamilton posted images of the ceremony that took place back in 2022, along with some of his own words.

"Three years ago today, I was granted honorary Brazilian citizenship. I remember the feeling that day like it was yesterday, and it remains a tremendous honour that I take very seriously," the Brit stated on social media.
"Coming here every year is a highlight for me, always. Racing with this flag on my helmet means the absolute world to me.
"Thank you all for the love and support, going to give it everything I can this weekend for these fans."
Hamilton's love of Brazil
Along with the 2021 victory, Hamilton has many fond memories of
Interlagos, winning on two other occasions, as well as sealing his maiden world title in 2008 in one of the most iconic moments in
Formula 1 history.
With Ayrton Senna also being the biggest idol to Hamilton as a child, there have been plenty of special moments and tributes from the seven-time champion, including last year in Sao Paulo
when the Brit got behind the wheel of Senna's iconic 1990 McLaren.
