The
Ferrari driver revealed ahead of the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix that he no longer has his car collection
When asked about buying the latest F80, he said: "I don't have any cars. I got rid of all my cars, I'm more into art nowadays."
The seven-time world champion then continued: "If I was going to get a car, it would be the F40. But that's a nice piece of art.”
Earlier this season, Hamilton explained that he would like to work on an ‘F44,’ using the famous F40 as a base.
Hamilton previously had a
large car collection. Among others, he had a LaFerrari, a Ferrari Aperta, and a Ferrari 599 SA Aperta from his current team.
He also owned many cars from Mercedes, the team he spent more than a decade with.
Hamilton known to be a big fan of art
Talking to The Athletic, the Briton already talked about his switch from collecting cars to art, especially from Africa.
"I was originally into cars. Now I’m heavy into art. I really, really love art. I love going to galleries. I just love the experience of it.
"To actually sit at home with a glass of wine and admire a piece of art. I got home two days ago, and I just remember walking in. The first thing I did, I dropped my bag, went to this room, and just sat and just looked at this painting that I’ve managed to get and I just can’t believe that I got this painting.
"That’s my favorite thing to invest in. I really, really love to buy young up-and-coming black artists as well, and African art. There’s just so much to learn in that world. That’s what I spend most of my time searching online for," he explained.
Hamilton will have the chance to drive this weekend at the Baku circuit.
