Lewis Hamilton seemed well on his way to contest pole with Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri, however, at Vale corner the Briton lost the time he required to take the fight to the championship contenders ultimately finishing in P5.

Ferrari weakness highlighted by Hamilton

Speaking to media post-qualifying for the British GP incluiding GPblog, Hamilton revealed a weakness inherent to the SF-25, Ferrari's 2025 car. "I think at the end we've got a bit of low-speed understeer, which is something that is inherent with this car."
The same weakness that struck in the crunch hour when the quickest possible lap had to be put in. "I just had understeer into Turn 16 [and I] lost the time that I had [gained].

Hamilton is much happier with race engineer and with the car

Nevertheless, the strides made by the Scuderia are not overlooked by Hamilton who praises the Italian team, including race engineer Riccardo Adami, and the results achieved so far.
"I'm really pleased with the progress. I'm really pleased with the direction. My engineer and I have been really gelling a lot better in terms of how we set the car up."
"I was much happier in the car and the lap was really, really nice up until the last corner, just a bit of understeer. I don't know if it was the kerb that put me a little wide, but then I just lost it. I think it was just over a tenth so that would definitely have put me on the upper front row."
