One of the biggest news in the world of F1 was the dismissal of Christian Horner. Not the bother of Lewis Hamilton, according to the Briton, who did not pay much attention to it. Lewis Hamilton battled
Red Bull Racing and also Christian Horner on many occasions in the past. However, he did not pay much attention to the Briton's dismissal.
"I don't know, when I’m not at race weekends I don’t really paying attention to anything that's going on in Formula 1 other than what's happening within our team. So I was neither surprised... I was just minding my own business," he reacted over the press conference.
"It doesn't change in my life. What to say, I mean, the team is it's been incredible to see the progress. I mean, look, I sat with Christian back in 2005. I remember sitting in his office in GP2. Well, I was in Formula 3, but looking to go into GP2 for his first year."
He continued: "And I remember sitting with him and I think, I don't know if he's at Arden or something. And I wouldn't say we hit it off from the get-go, but to have seen his progression and his career, I think it was clearly remarkable what he did with the team, with a huge group of amazing people. And to really run an organisation that big and that well takes talent and skill and that's what he brought to the team. So I wish him all the best."
Hamilton expects changes at Red Bull Racing
Laurent Mekies was promoted from Racing Bulls to the Milton Keynes-based team to replace Horner as team principal and CEO of the team. While Hamilton did not specifically comment on the Frenchman, he expects changes, as it is usual when a CEO is replaced.
"And of course, I think when you change CEO or someone that's running an organisation, things, they come with their own formula and more often than not make changes. So, that's inevitable but that takes time," he concluded.
