Lewis Hamilton shared a heartfelt message on Instagram following his first British Grand Prix as a Ferrari driver. He may not have made it onto the podium, but Lewis Hamilton’s first home Grand Prix as a
Ferrari driver was still a truly special experience. For the first time in his career, he appeared before his home fans wearing colors very different from those they had seen him in for the past decade.
The seven-time world champion, despite a solid fourth-place finish that provides a confidence boost for the rest of the season, was ultimately left with a sense of disappointment. Given the strong pace he had shown throughout the weekend, the final result fell short of expectations.
Up until his very last Q3 attempt, the home crowd favorite looked to be in the fight for pole position — or at least a spot on the front row. Unfortunately, a mistake in the penultimate corner cost him the chance to secure a higher place on the grid.
In the race, he limited the damage as best he could, with the SF-25 clearly struggling in wet conditions compared to its strong performance in the dry.
Toward the end, he launched a late charge to catch Hülkenberg, but the German managed to secure the first podium of his career — denying Lewis the joy of celebrating on the podium in front of his home crowd.
Hamilton shares emotional message after Silverstone GP
Despite everything, Hamilton expressed his deep gratitude for the incredible support he received throughout the entire weekend.
''Not the race we were hoping for but we're growing as a team and will continue to fight to deliver better results.'' he stated in a recent Instagram post.
''Much love to Silverstone, always. Year after year the support grows. I've never seen so much Ferrari red here and it means so much to me and the entire team. Can't thank you all enough and can't wait to get back here. Roscoe says thanks for the love, too.''
