Lewis Hamilton was in a reflective mood after completing yesterday's Grand Prix. He claims the race was his “most challenging”, whilst remaining confident Ferrari is still fastest.
The Brit was humble and honest about the story of the race and suggested he felt “odd” winning the race, but not earning the victory.
“It’s definitely different when you think that somebody else has earned it,” he said.
“I’m wired differently. I could have done that because I still won and you take what you get. But I like to win because I’ve outsmarted, outwitted and outclassed every driver out there.
“I’m grateful for the win but I felt the performance, not entirely me, but also with the car, was not on par with what I’m capable of doing.”
Hamilton’s victory was his first since October 2017, one of his longest droughts. But despite finishing back on top, he suggested the job still needs serious effort.
“There's improvements we need to make and if we improve it and unlock the potential in the car, you’ll see races like Melbourne,” Hamilton added, bringing back his fighting talk.
