Isack Hadjar lost his cool with French compatriot Esteban Ocon during an untelevised moment during the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday.
The incident happened on Lap 44 when the Red Bull driver caught up to the back of the Haas to lap him. In the video which has circulated on social media, it shows that blue flags were shown to Ocon, who stayed ahead of Hadjar through Turns 6, 7 and 8, despite the Red Bull driver twice appearing to try and dive inside the Haas.
Ocon eventually moved aside but Hadjar made his frustrations known waving his hand out of his cockpit towards his fellow Frenchman, while he also took to the team radio to vent his anger.
"Come on, move! F***, what are you doing?" Hadjar blasted over the radio after failing to pass Ocon at Turn 6, to which his engineer Richard Wood acknowledged the incident and said they would report it. When Ocon slowed down a few corners to let Hadjar by, the latter repeated: "But what are you doing?" in French.
It was not the only moment of anger shown by a Red Bull driver during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend. Max Verstappen was spotted appearing to show his middle finger at George Russell's during Friday's second practice session when trying to overtake the Mercedes car.
Verstappen finished second narrowly missing out on victory, while Hadjar produced a respectable drive despite his moment with Ocon to finish sixth. Ocon, who finished 16th, was also involved in a wheel banging moment with teammate Oliver Bearman during the early stages of the race, with the Brit asking over the radio: "What the f*** was he doing?"
Austrian GP offers relief to Red Bull boss
There was huge relief at Red Bull after it was clear that the updates to the RB22 worked at the Austrian Grand Prix, with Verstappen able to fight for the win and perhaps being disappointed only to finish second.
After Verstappen’s second place, Oliver Mintzlaff, the CEO of Corporate Projects and New Investments at Red Bull GmbH broke into a big smile and answered a question from GPblog. “Was this what you needed?” the executive was asked, to which Mintzlaff responded with a big thumbs-up. “Yes! Perfect!” he beamed, before heading into the celebrations.
The result was also a positive for Red Bull given the speculation surrounding Verstappen's future the team, amid recent speculation linking him with a
future move to McLaren.
