Haas launch Italian Grand Prix appeal

Haas have officially lanched their appeal for the Italian Grand Prix, to try and overturn the decision to disqualify Romain Grosjean from last weekend's race at Monza...

Haas had 96 hours to make an official appeal and that's what they've done - as they confirmed their intent to do it last Sunday after the race.

Grosjean's floor on his car was not found to meet the technical regulations of the FIA and the race stewards agreed with Renault's complaints about the French driver's car.

Haas had been warned by the FIA before the race about its floor structure that was updated before the Canadian Grand Prix, but did ask the governing body for time to correct its situation.

Renault's protest in Italy meant that Haas didn't get away with the risk of running with the unmodified VF-18, matched by the race steward's verdict.

Last Sunday, Haas' boss Guenther Steiner expressed his anger on Twitter and told the world about his team's intent to appeal the decision, which saw Haas miss out on points due to Grosjean's exlusion.

"We do not agree with the Stewards' decision to penalize our race team and we feel strongly that our sixth-place finish in the Italian Grand Prix should stand. We are appealing the Stewards' decision," the boss wrote on Twitter.

Renault as a result took over Haas in the constructors' championship - meaning the French manufacturer now top the midfield battle once again.
