Grosjean is considering a longtime IndyCar career: 'I still have some years left'

Officially, his IndyCar career has yet to begin, on April 18 during the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park, but Romain Grosjean is already letting it be known that he is open to a long-term career in the American racing class.

Following his dismissal from Haas in Formula One, the Frenchman made the move to America. For the Dale Coyne-Honda team, he will compete there on road and street circuits. Grosjean is open to staying in America for a longer period of time. "If I am enjoying myself in the US and I feel that this is what I want to do, then I would definitely stay," the Frenchman told Motorsportweek.com.

What also plays into his decision, however, is his family. "Right now, in many ways, it's a challenge that I'm taking on. It's a new racing class and it means a lot of travel for me. My family is staying in Europe. Sometimes I won't see them for a month, which is pretty hard when you're a dad. But I'm ready to give it a try."

Grosjean will soon be 35 but certainly doesn't see his age as a barrier to continuing racing. "Scott [Dixon] is 40, Will Power just turned 40, Sebastien [Bourdais] is 42, they are still doing very well. I'm almost 35 so I have some time left to race. I think I have some years left."
