George Russell has admitted he is trying to learn some of Lewis Hamilton's techniques in order to raise his overall Formula 1 performance in the long-term.
Russell was promoted at the start of the 2019 season from Formula 2 to drive for Williams. The Mercedes reserve driver has had opportunities in the past to observe some of what Hamilton does during his work for the Silver Arrows.
"With the details and everything, he's exceptional," Russell told RaceFans. "I think I can learn a lot from him. I recognise that he doesn't just rely on natural talent to be quick.
"He goes into every single detail to try and be better and better. (He's) one of the most hardworking people I've come across in the paddock which I think shocks a lot of people. There's definitely a few little techniques I saw him doing that I've tried to adopt to help me go faster. Especially in a race distance, less so over one lap."
Russell will have a new partner next season as on Thursday, Robert Kubica announced that he would no longer be driving for the team from the end of this season onwards, despite only spending a season back in Formula 1.
