Gasly on talks with Marko: "That's what we're talking about"

Pierre Gasly is having an excellent season at Alpha Tauri. The Frenchman is ninth in the World Championship and has 29 points more than his teammate Yuki Tsunoda. The coming period will show what the future holds for both men at the team.

Where Tsunoda has to worry about his spot, Gasly already stated several times that he wants to try again with a big team. The Frenchman was part of the Red Bull Racing team a couple of years ago, but had to make way for Alexander Albon in the middle of the season due to some poor performance. Gasly is convinced that he is now ready for the place next to Verstappen.

The driver is talking to Red Bull about his future this term. "It's pretty clear, it's in the hands of Red Bull," Gasly stated in conversation with Motorsport.com. "Max is fixed for next year, Sergio has a one-year contract I think. We'll first wait and see what happens at Red Bull and then we'll see how we go forward together. I'm still under contract with Red Bull for a while and I'm confident we'll get clarity sometime in or after the summer break."

Helmut Marko was clear, according to Gasly, about what he expects from the Frenchman. "They want a leader at AlphaTauri who can take the team further forward. As a driver you obviously want to be in the best car and fight for the best positions. That's what we're talking about."
