“Work out what's the best way of focusing on the performance.”
- Pierre GaslyThe Alpine driver, who recently penned a new contract at the Enstone outfit, detailed how such a situation can be relative to individuals. Gasly, who spoke to the media ahead of the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix, also stressed how Tsunoda may need to work out the best way of focusing on his performance.
“Every single situation is quite specific; we all manage and process it in different ways. It kind of depends on how you are as an individual, what may or may not work for you, and the sort of support and environment you have around you.”
“These are things that I talk with Yuki, obviously, very openly. We have a good relationship. And I think, yeah, ultimately, he needs to work out what's the best way of focusing on the performance, because at the end of the day, the only thing that matters when you're in a competitive sport is the performance you put out there.”
Gasly urges Tsunoda to cut out the noise
The former Red Bull Racing driver also highlighted the need for Yuki Tsunoda to block out the noise that continues to cloud his stint at the Milton Keynes-based outfit.
“You've got to figure out what the limitations are you're facing, what are your best chances of displaying your skills in the best possible way, so that's the main thing, cutting the noise.”
“Obviously, there's always going to be a lot of talks, a lot of noise around, you need to find a way it doesn't get to your head and at the end of the day."
"You just gotta wake up every day thinking, how am I going to get better at what I am doing? Whether you go through better times or challenging times, it's the only question that will push you forward. Hopefully, that is what he manages to do until the end of the year.”
Tsunoda continues to find himself in the crosshairs of criticism amid his torrid run at the Red Bull Racing outfit. Despite
admitting racing for Red Bull is his dream, the Japanese driver has failed to reach the heights many had envisaged for him following his switch from the Racing Bulls outfit.
