Gasly clear: 'Things are in the hands of Red Bull'

Pierre Gasly can be satisfied with his season so far. With AlphaTauri the Frenchman's performance has been excellent and he seems to be working towards a contract extension. The driver is keeping all options open for the time being.

Gasly has raced for Red Bull Racing in the past, but was forced to leave due to disappointing results. He then returned to AlphaTauri to regain his old form and in a few years time he hopes to make the switch to Red Bull. However, he doesn't seem to have a chance to do so this season.

For now, the question is whether he will get a contract extension. "My future, I think it’s still quite early," he responded at the press conference to the likes of Formel1.de. "On my side, things are in the hands of Red Bull. At the end of the day, it will be up to them to make the decision whether we continue together, continue with AlphaTauri, with Red Bull, or other options."

The driver doesn't know when both camps will sit down with each other. "It’s something that at the moment we haven’t really talked yet. I guess we will see in the coming weeks and the coming months what we want to do."
