Chassis change between Hamilton and Bottas at Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas will swap chassis this weekend, the Finnish driver confirmed during the press conference. Although Bottas experienced a bad race two weeks ago, he says the switch has nothing to do with that.
The Mercedes driver drove a mediocre race at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Bottas drove a disappointing qualifying and also in the race he did not come close to the top five. In fact, Hamilton's teammate had to settle for twelfth position, which meant he didn't even drive in the points.
Bottas spoke a lot with his team over the past two weeks to talk about the problems in Baku. "It had to do with different parts," he told Formel1.de. "It came back earlier in Monaco, where I found the right set-up and had the confidence in the car. I got the tyres to work, while Lewis failed to do so."

Competition with Red Bull

With the chassis change, Bottas hopes to be back in contention for the front positions, although he is not yet sure. "I only know how our car feels and what speed we can achieve, but not how the other teams are doing. At least in the Monaco and Baku races we were competitive."
