Formula 1 has just announced that the race will restart at 10:33 CEST (9:33 UK time). The initial start attempts quite literally fell through due to the rain. During the formation lap, everything also went wrong with the engines, causing the start to be postponed again.
The drivers were only able to complete two laps behind the safety car before several cars came to a halt, forcing the race start to be suspended once again. The track remained wet, with the drivers having had very limited running in rainy and wet conditions.
Lewis Hamilton was among those to stop on track after encountering an issue during the lap. Max Verstappen also reported a throttle problem, explaining that the car did not respond when he pressed the accelerator, although he was able to continue. Oliver Bearman and Gabriel Bortoleto were also affected by software issues.
The problems resulted in another delay of at least 40 minutes. It remains to be seen whether the race will finally be able to get underway this time, with the asphalt still wet despite the rain having stopped.
