Following the violent downpour that hit the Sepang International Circuit around an hour ago, the FIA has now confirmed when the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia will get underway.
The race had initially been scheduled to start at 09:00 CEST, but the FIA was forced to delay proceedings after the heavy rain left significant amounts of standing water around the circuit, making conditions unsuitable for the Grand Prix to begin as planned.
Race Control has now confirmed that the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia will officially get underway at 15:40 local time (09:40 CEST, 08:40 UK time).
Race Control has added that the current plan is for the drivers to complete a minimum of two laps behind the Safety Car before a standing start takes place. However, the procedure remains subject to change depending on the feedback provided by the drivers once they are out on track.
