The start of the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia has officially been delayed due to the heavy rain that hit the Sepang International Circuit just minutes before the scheduled start.
There has been no official communication yet on when the race is expected to get underway, with hopes that conditions will improve over the coming minutes and allow the Grand Prix to take place safely.
Under Formula 1 regulations, the three-hour maximum race duration does not begin until the race itself gets underway. As the start has only been delayed, the clock is not yet running, meaning the pre-race delay will not eat into the time available to complete the Grand Prix.
