Fittipaldi: 'This is the best news this year for F1'

Emerson Fittipaldi believes that the arrival of Audi and Porsche is great for Formula 1. The two-time world champion told Vegasinsider it's "the best news of this year for F1.

The Volkswagen Group has been working on a move to Formula 1 for some time. How exactly it will look like is still unknown, as there is still no clarity. Porsche has been linked to Red Bull Racing for some time, but Audi would now like to buy a team and also make the engine itself.

Whatever the interpretation will be, according to Fittipaldi it is good at all that these brands are involved in F1. "I think it’s one of the best pieces of news this year for Formula 1," the Brazilian said enthusiastically to Vegasinsider.

''Because when you get a factory or a group like Volkswagen to get into F1, it would be fantastic news. Because I am sure they will bring big challenges with them. They will commit very seriously to being successful. They invest a lot of money, they’ll need new people. I think this is very good news for F1, for the public, and for the racing fans.
