The FIA have said that they want F1 tyre supplier Pirelli to make tyres that last longer, to allow drivers to push harder for more of the race.
Pirelli have been F1's sole tyre supplier since 2011 and they have been the centre of many talking points during the nine years F1 has used their rubber.
The FIA wants Pirelli to produce harder tyres, rather than the quick degrading tyres of recent years.
Nikolas Tomazis, head of single seater technical matters at the FIA said: “We want to have tyres that enable people to fight each other without degrading or only giving a short interval for the person attacking to attack.
“What the current tyres are is a product of what has been asked of them [Pirelli], and I think we need to ask them to do different things to what they have been asked in the past.”
