The FIA has confirmed that from the Belgian Grand Prix onwards the porpoising technical directive will be implemented. In addition, the federation announces that a number of adjustments will be made to reduce porpoising from 2023 onwards.

Reducing porpoising

It was coming for a while now, but as of the Spa-Francorchamps race, the FIA is going ahead with the introduction of porpoising rules. What is perhaps even more interesting is the fact that a number of changes are being made for the 2023 season.
From next season, the floor edges will be raised by 25 millimetres. The diffuser under the floor will also go up and stricter floor deflection tests will be done by the FIA. Finally, the FIA is introducing a more accurate sensor to help measure aerodynamic swings.

Roll hoops must be stronger

The horror crash of Guanyu Zhou at Silverstone has also meant that the roll hoops of the F1 cars will be more strictly monitored. Zhou flipped over in Great Britain and when he slid upside down on the asphalt, his roll hoop failed.
