The FIA have confirmed that Williams and Cadillac both used a curfew exemption ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, with no further action taken against either team.
Under
Formula 1 regulations, team personnel involved in the operation of the cars are prohibited from working at the circuit during a designated overnight curfew period, which for the Austrian Grand Prix ran from 19:30 on Thursday, June 25, until 09:30 on Friday, June 26. Each team, however, is allowed to use up to five individual exemptions during the season without incurring a penalty.
Ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, the FIA confirmed that both Williams and Cadillac made use of one of those exemptions after personnel involved in car operations were present at the circuit during the restricted period. For Williams, this marked the second of its five permitted exemptions for the 2026 season, while Cadillac used its first of five. As both teams remain within the allowed allocation, the FIA confirmed that no further action will be taken.
The opening practice session is set to get underway shortly, with FP1 scheduled for 13:30 local time. The day's on-track action will then conclude with FP2 at 17:00, before Formula 1 returns on Saturday for the third and final practice session, followed by qualifying.
So far, neither Williams nor Cadillac has enjoyed much success in terms of results. The American outfit, which entered Formula 1 at the start of the 2026 season, is still chasing the first points in its history, while Williams has managed just 11 points despite arriving into the campaign with high expectations, particularly given its Mercedes power unit.
