More has been announced about the upcoming regulation changes in 2026. After a meeting held today in London, the FIA have announced the testing days for that season, and also gave an update on whether the points system will change, reads the federation’s report.

Nine days of testing for '26

"The 2026 pre-season test plan would include nine test days, split across three test events," the FIA write. With new cars, these tests will be essential for the teams and drivers to test how their cars do on the track.

No change to points system

Early in the 2024 season, when five teams including Aston Martin were able to fill up the points-paying positions, there was also talk about expending the points system in the future, so the midfield teams could gain more when competing for P11 or P12. The FIA, however, announced that the system will remain the same for the time being.

"It was unanimously agreed that there would be no changes to the distribution of Championship points (as described in Articles 6.4 and 6.5 of the Sporting Regulations) following a recent proposal to consider expanding the point allocation beyond 10th place in a Grand Prix," it has been declared.
