Charles Leclerc has revealed that the level of Ferrari's aggression had him "a bit worried" ahead of the United States Grand Prix start.
I knew it was an aggressive strategy. My plan was to be first after the first corner.

At the Circuit of the Americas, Leclerc was in contention for P2 right up until the end of the race, largely due to Ferrari's decision to put him on a set of soft compound tyres for the start of the race and the race neutralisations that followed soon after lights out.
Regarding Ferrari's strategy, Leclerc admitted: "I knew it was an aggressive strategy. My plan was to be first after the first corner.
"I didn’t quite make that, but at least I gained a position, which helped me a little bit with free air. And that definitely helped our race."

Having tried the hard tyres, Leclerc was certain that they would not be an option for Sunday's race. Nevertheless, when he found out he was the sole driver to line up on the grid on softs, he was worried.
"Again, I knew it was aggressive, but considering the feeling I had on the hard in FP1, I was quite convinced I didn’t want to touch that tyre.
"So yeah, I was just a little bit worried when my engineer got on the radio on the grid and I was the only car on softs, basically. So I thought, ‘OK, maybe there's something I didn’t feel right.’ But in the end, it ended up a good choice," he concluded.
