Ferrari boss: President's message was aimed at 'third party' Horner

Recently rumours sprung about putting ousted Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner at the top of the list of candidates Elkann would be inclined to replace Vasseur with, as speculation arose in the media suggesting the Ferrari president would be entertaining the idea of parting ways with the Frenchman.

However, prior to the U.S GP, Elkann voiced his support of Vasseur as team boss of the Scuderia, a gesture the Frenchman is thankful for, but that he believes was not aimed at him.

Speaking about the topic after the United States Grand Prix Vasseur said: "Obviously I think for everybody it's good to have this kind of message. But as we have a permanent contact, we already had the message which was more for the third party and external target."

When questioned on the personal significance Elkann's message had for him, Vasseur celebrated the elimination of the distraction.

"It's important because like this you stop the discussion and you are focused on on the next one and not to reply to all the questions about this," Vasseur concluded.

According to the Scuderia's driver Charles Leclerc, Ferrari's chances to win races in 2025 are all but gone. The Monegasque driver who's racked up 6 podiums for the Italians this season argues that they currently don't have the car at their disposal.
