Ferrari's hopes cut down by Leclerc's sober verdict after US GP podium

Charles Leclerc delivered a sobering reality check for the Scuderia Ferrari team when asked about the possibility of clinching victory at the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix.

“I don't think we quite have the car to do so.”

The Monegasque driver who spoke to GPblog at the Circuit of the Americas expressed delight about his outing at the US Grand Prix, before offering a cautious response on the possibility of clinching victory at the Mexico City race.

“But we are in a different situation now. I mean, I still want to believe we can win a race before the end of the season. But again, I think we need to be realistic in our situation, and I don't think we quite have the car to do so.”

“I think this weekend has been the perfect weekend for the team, and I’ll be surprised if we can achieve anything better until the end of the year. But we’ll take it race by race and see what can be done.”

The 2025 campaign has unfolded in a largely turbulent manner for the Ferrari outfit. The Marenello based outfit remains without a race victory after 19 rounds of the season and only recorded its first top three finish with Leclerc in COTA since the Belgian Grand Prix.

Leclerc delighted with podium amid Ferrari rumours

Leclerc also expressed his delight with his podium finish amid the rumours that have heralded the Ferrari outfit. The 28-year-old admitted to the season, particularly the second half, being difficult and how the rumours surrounding the team have done little to ease the pressure.

The Monegasque concluded by stating the need for the team to remain focused on its ambition as the 2025 campaign enters its final stretch.
