Ferrari vice-chairman, Piero Ferrari, the son of Enzo Ferrari is adamant from a Scuderia perspective that Sebastian Vettel won the Canadian Grand Prix despite the official result giving Lewis Hamilton the win.
Vettel was denied victory in Canada after he was handed a controversial, five-second time penalty for impeding Lewis Hamilton after the German made a mistake and ran onto the grass at turn 4. Vettel was adjudged to have re-entered the track in an unsafe manner as it almost forced Hamilton into the wall.
Following the race, Vettel moved the P1 sign from Hamilton's car to his as well as giving a very short and snappy interview. Piero Ferrari revealed to Il Resto del Carlino that the team see that as Vettel's victory.
“Ferrari’s position is clear. For us, Vettel won in Montreal," said Ferrari.
"In his case, there was a literal application of the regulation, which was then lacking in Zeltweg."

Despite the difficulties the Scuderia have faced this season, the vice-chairman praised the reaction of the drivers, adding: "In the last month, with Vettel and Leclerc, we won two poles and fought for victory on both occasions to the chequered flag.
"Even with the external controversy, the team is reacting to difficulties. That’s a good thing.”
