From Max Verstappen staying tight-lipped on his Red Bull Racing future to Oscar Piastri committing to McLaren for the 2027 season, GPblog recaps the biggest Formula 1 stories of the day. Verstappen finally responds to heavy McLaren rumors and his future
Verstappen kept it brief when asked about his future during Thursday's FIA press conference.
"No. Nothing. There’s nothing to say from my side," Verstappen
explained when pressed about the next step in his career.
Asked what loyalty between himself and his team meant to him, Verstappen added: "Just a relationship that you build over all the years and things that the team does for you, the things that you do for the team. And that has always been, to me, really good with Red Bull, of course, from my side. It's like a second family for me."
Meanwhile, Red Bull Racing has opted
not to use its 'Macarena' wing at Spa this weekend after it contributed to two incidents involving Verstappen over the past two race weekends.

McLaren door closes for Verstappen as Piastri commits to papaya squad for 2027
Today, Piastri also confirmed that he will stay with McLaren for the 2027 season. "Yes. I mean, I've obviously seen some of [the rumors] and heard some of it. For me, I'm very comfortable with where I am and where I sit, and, you know, Zak [Brown] and Andrea [Stella] and the whole team have been great through all that, very reassuring, and I've been the same to them," he began to GPblog, among others.
"I mean, clearly, Max is feeling, I don't know, maybe he's not in a great position at the moment or exploring options. It was the same thing last year with him and Mercedes. So it's nothing new, but I'm very happy with where I'm at, where things are at and how it's been going."
Piastri has no issue with his team sitting down with Verstappen.
He added:
"I don't know. I'm not really that bothered. I think it's important for people to know where things sit, where the market sits, and the information you can get is good. So, yeah, I trust the team here. And the things I've been told and the belief in me, so that's all I really care about."
