Isack Hadjar is set to start from the back of the grid at the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix. The Frenchman confirmed the news in an interview with Canal+.
Hadjar will take a new power unit for the Belgian Grand Prix, meaning he will start from the back of the grid regardless of where he qualifies, the Red Bull driver told the French broadcaster on Thursday.
The youngster said he expects to have a lot of fun on Sunday as a result.
McLaren driver Lando Norris is also set to receive a 10-place grid penalty, the Woking-based outfit confirmed earlier on Thursday. This comes after the team exceeded its seasonal allocation of power electronics units on the reigning world champion's MCL40.
"We have chosen to do this in Belgium, a circuit where overtaking is relatively more prevalent, as opposed to the following two events in Hungary and Zandvoort. We now plan to use this fourth power electronics unit for the remainder of the season, in order to maximise reliability while minimising sporting penalties on Lando," McLaren explained.

Hadjar addresses Red Bull rear wing change for the Belgian GP

Red Bull Racing has opted not to use its 'Macarena' wing at Spa this weekend after it caused two incidents involving Max Verstappen over the previous two Grands Prix.
Hadjar also addressed the team's decision to GPblog, among others, in Belgium. He said: "I mean, visually, it's obviously a big change, but in the car, it's not, it's less than you might think. It's hard even for us to measure the loss, going back to it.

"So we still reckon to have like similar competitiveness to last weekend, for example, even though it's definitely a less impressive rear wing. But we're making sure the other one comes back to us as soon as we can and in a safer way as well.
"I guess I got quite lucky for two rounds in a row [that it did not happen to me]. So yes, this one was really down to luck. It could have happened to none of us and it could have happened four times to the both of us.
So, on this one, he took it for me unfortunately and to be honest he's probably his problem is my problem as well, and we need to fix it."
