As usual, let’s take a look at the two main news stories of the day this Monday, June 30 — a day packed with Formula 1 updates after the Austrian GP. So far, Alpine has been unfortunate with their drivers besides Pierre Gasly in 2025. The French team started the year with Jack Doohan, but after disappointing performances, the Australian was quickly sidelined.
Subsequently, reserve driver Franco Colapinto was given a chance. The Argentine has not been convincing so far, either. Colapinto has not scored any points, not even last weekend in Austria. At the Red Bull Ring, he finished fifteenth, a lap behind the winner Lando Norris.
Today, a surprising new name has emerged as a potential replacement for the Argentine driver if his results do not improve in the near future.
Max Verstappen undoubtedly remains the cornerstone of Red Bull and the only driver keeping the team afloat, especially considering the disappointing results from Sergio Perez last year, Liam Lawson in the first two races this year, and Yuki Tsunoda since then. But where would the Milton Keynes team be without Max Verstappen? Sky reporter Ted Kravitz set out to answer exactly that question.
