Max Verstappen has topped the timing charts in the first practice session at the Belgian GP, ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.
The Red Bull driver's lap time of 1:47.070 was enough to edge out Hamilton at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuits, located in the beautiful Ardennes hills and featuring the famous Eau Rouge-Raidillon sequence.
A quiet start to the first practice session of the weekend saw the two Red Bulls trade top spot on the opening 20 minutes, with Isack Hadjar, running on the soft tyres, ahead of his teammate Verstappen, on mediums, by just 0.081s. The Frenchman is set for a back of the grid start after changes to his power unit this weekend.
Elsewhere, it was a stop-start first half to the session for world champion Lando Norris, with the McLaren driver only briefly emerging from the pits after 15 minutes - eventually setting a representative time for P11 just before the halfway mark.

Mercedes were somewhat anonymous by the 30-minute mark, but shot up to the top of the timing charts once Kimi Antonelli got onto the softs. Red Bull, however, responded impressively, as Verstappen went two and a half tenths faster than his teammate to take a top spot.
Once Ferrari got onto the soft tyres, with around 20 minutes to go, they were fighting for top spot, with Hamilton just a tenth off Verstappen, while Leclerc was just a half a tenth behind that as he took P3 towards the closing stages.
Norris eventually got some soft tyre running done with just over ten minutes to go, with P7 the best the world champion could achieve, while his teammate Oscar Piastri secured P5. The Aussie, however, encountered very late hydraulic issues, having been ordered to limp back to the pits.
Further down the grid, Aston Martin managed to avoid falling foul of F1's 107% rule, with Lance Strolll finishing 5.7s off the pace in P21, and third driver Jak Crawford 6.1s behind at the very back.
