Blake Hinsey, former Red Bull engineer, shared some rather unkind words about Danica Patrick—the well-known former American driver who is now better known as a Formula 1 pundit on Sky Sports—via a social media post that was later deleted. Patrick recently found herself in the spotlight again following a strange verbal exchange with Nico Rosberg in Canada, where Rosberg took issue with her after she claimed that the Montreal circuit wasn’t a particularly challenging track.
Now, the Wisconsin native appears to have made a new "enemy," this time online.
Danica Patrick at Sky Sports
Ex Red Bull engineer critical Danica Patrick
''(When) Danica Patrick is on the broadcast you immediately turn it off, because you have standards,'' he wrote on his X account.
He then continued: “I know I’m an engineer and I consume things differently than a lot of people, but I think there are some common threads between me wanting to enjoy a race I’m not working and my dad, who likes turning on a race now and then, but he won’t come back because it’s so far up it’s own ass and nuanced to get that interested''.
So, the former engineer of
Red Bull Racing concluded, saying:
“For the dude that’s watching F1 and can’t get into endurance racing. I get it… but if they’d explain more of this stuff and how it works, more people would buy in.''Hinsey worked as performance Engineer for Verstappen
During his time at Red Bull Racing, Hinsey worked closely with
Max Verstappen. He served as Trackside Performance Engineer for the Dutch driver in 2016 and 2017, and before that, in 2015 and early 2016, he held the same role for Daniil Kvyat.
Afterward, Hinsey spent two years as a Simulator Performance Engineer, followed by another two years as a Senior Simulator Performance Engineer at Red Bull.
He then left the team after the 2021 season. Currently, he works as a race engineer in IMSA for Wayne Taylor Racing.
