As expected, F1 drivers turned the LEGO mini car Drivers' Parade into a playful bumping contest, offering a light-hearted preview of the battles expected at the British Grand Prix.
Ahead of the Silverstone weekend, it was announced that the LEGO cars would return for the Drivers' Parade, replacing the usual trucks, following the same concept introduced in Miami a year ago that had sparked plenty of laughter among both the drivers and the fans.
The announcement was also met with some criticism from a handful of drivers, most notably Max Verstappen. Staying true to his typically straightforward approach, the Dutchman made it clear that he would have preferred a traditional Drivers' Parade in one of the usual vehicles, stressing that his main priority is acknowledging the fans rather than taking part in themed pre-race activities.
"I'll just get over it as quickly as possible, wave to the fans because they deserve that. But, of course, if it was up to me I would just like a normal drivers' parade. What is wrong with it? Just an electric truck or whatever driving us around. I think that's fine but it is what it is, but it is not like a draw," he said on Thursday.

During the lap around the British circuit, playful chaos unfolded as expected, with the drivers giving in to their competitive instincts and bumping into one another, including Charles Leclerc and Gabriel Bortoleto, among others.
Fernando Alonso, Esteban Ocon and Valtteri Bottas also put on a show by running onto the grass at the final corner and cutting across to the main straight, in a move Formula 1 playfully compared to Lewis Hamilton's 2022 overtake through the battle between Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc.
There was playful chaos at the start of the lap as well, with almost all of the LEGO mini cars cutting straight across the track, ignoring the circuit layout and making up their own rules in the name of entertainment.
By the time the drivers climbed out of the cars, several LEGO bricks had come loose from the vehicles. Many drivers, including Liam Lawson, also took the opportunity to drive well off the track onto the grass to get closer to the fans and wave to them.
