Robert Doornbos hopes that the partnership between
Red Bull Racing and
Porsche will continue in 2026. Both parties are reportedly close to reaching an agreement, which the
Ziggo Sport analyst welcomes, as he explained to
Motorsport.com.
The team of
Max Verstappen and
Sergio Perez worked with Honda in recent years. Although the Japanese engine supplier withdrew from
Formula 1 at the end of 2021, Honda is still helping to make the engine behind the scenes.
With the new engine regulations of 2026, there are big changes coming. As a result, several engine suppliers, including
Porsche and Audi, are interested in working with a team from the
Formula 1 class. As a result, a delegation of Porsche and Red Bull have been negotiating for several months about a partnership.
Doornbos hopes for cooperation
Doornbos was for many years an ambassador for Porsche and knows the brand like no other. According to the Dutchman, it is a very good thing that Red Bull is considering working with the brand. He concludes that Red Bull is very popular and that this is mainly due to the performance of Verstappen. He thinks that with an engine from Porsche Red Bull can fight for the world title again.
