Mick Schumacher, son of legendary driver Michael Schumacher, could be on his way to following in his father’s footsteps after rumoured to be joining Ferrari’s young driver programme.
Schumacher won the European Formula 3 this year and is going to be competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2019 with Prema Powerteam, a team that is seen as a line into the Scuderia.
Ferrari and Mercedes have been keeping an eye on the son of seven-time championship winner.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff said when speaking in St Petersburg "This year he won the European Formula 3 with a Mercedes engine, and this is a great result, but het is not part of the young Mercedes program.”
"I have no doubt that he has the potential to become a successful Formula 1 driver. Maybe one day he will race for us, maybe not."

However, according to current Ferrari boss Maurizio Arrivabene, the door into Ferrari will always be open.
"With a name that is part of Ferrari's history, it is obvious that for him the Maranello door will always be open," he said.
"But let it grow without pressure."
