Circuit Gilles Villeneuve temporarily transformed into vaccination site

The Canadian Grand Prix will not take place this year but that doesn't mean that the circuit will not be used. Over the next three weekends, the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will be used as a vaccination site against the coronavirus.

This is the second year in a row that the race in Montreal cannot go ahead because of the coronavirus. Instead, the venue will be used for a good cause, namely vaccinating residents against the virus, reports CTV News Montreal.

Residents can bike or drive to the track for the next three weekends, where the pit building serves as a bike and drive-in location for getting a coronavirus vaccination.

"We have the vaccines, so people should be able to get them," said Health Minister Christian Dubé. "When we have given the second doses to enough people we can finally say: those masks are not so important anymore, we can start to get rid of them, " Dubé said.
