Cadillac F1 and TWG Motorsports CEO Dan Towriss explained it was 'love at first sight' with Sergio Perez after a secret meeting took place. I think we were both excited. We had a meeting in London, actually, a secret meeting, nobody was around, no cameras, no media.

Ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Cadillac, the 11th team on the grid,
has announced its two full-time drivers for its debut campaign. In 2026, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez will compete for the Americans.
Cited by AS's US edition, Towriss said: "Actually, I think we were both excited. We had a meeting in London, actually, a secret meeting, nobody was around, no cameras, no media.
"As we got to know each other, for me, his experience really stood out.
"I think from Checo's standpoint, I think what he would tell you is he saw support in the team for him in a way that maybe he hasn't had in the past. And so you kind of saw the light come back to his eyes.
"So we both left that meeting thinking this is the right opportunity. So I would say it was easy, but it was just love at first sight," the CEO concluded.
Perez returns to the F1 grid after a year away from
Formula 1. Ahead of the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix, the Mexican was handed a contract extension by Red Bull Racing, however, after the season concluded, he was replaced by Liam Lawson.
The Mexican also revealed that it was his former teammate, Max Verstappen,
who first congratulated him on his return to the series.
Since then, the American team also revealed
Colton Herta as its test driver. He will also compete in Formula 2 in 2026.
