Sergio Perez is set to return for the 2026 with Cadillac. His former teammate, Nico Hulkenberg, sees the advantage of a gap year.
Hulkenberg and Perez competed together for Force India for three seasons, from 2014 until 2016.
After a stint with Renault that ended in 2019, the German driver then spent three years without a full-time seat, but did complete three Grands Prix for Racing Point and Aston Martin.
He once teamed up again with Perez for the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix.
Now, Sergio Perez is also set to return to the grid as full-time driver, after he was let go by Red Bull Racing at the end of the 2024 campaign.

The German driver explains taking some time off could be beneficial to him.
"I think it’s very personal and independent. Everyone is different," he began to GPblog among others.
"For me personally, it was very positive and refreshing," he explained.
"Then again, I had almost three proper years away, which is a long time. But it’s what I needed at the time.
"And again, I can only talk for myself. It was very positive, in hindsight."
