The Silverstone Grand Prix turned into a real nightmare for Charles Leclerc, marked by several mistakes — and Jenson Button didn’t miss the chance to point out the Monegasque’s disastrous strategy call.
After making a costly mistake in the final corner during his last Q3 attempt — which denied him a spot on the front row — things didn’t go much better for Charles Leclerc and Ferrari in the race either.
Starting from sixth on the grid, the Monegasque — along with George Russell — took a gamble that, in hindsight, proved to be far too risky. He pitted at the end of the formation lap to switch to dry tyres on a track that was still clearly too wet for slicks.
It was a costly mistake for the Monegasque, who was quickly dropped to the back of the field and struggled to make his way back up through the traffic due to poor visibility and the inability to use DRS.

A mistake that didn’t go unnoticed by the sharp eye of Jenson Button, who didn’t hold back in his criticism of the Ferrari driver during via Sky Sports.
"I mean, it seems like if you've got a tricky race like this, you do the opposite of what Charles Leclerc does," the 2009 world champion said.
"It's never been a strong point of him or his engineer, or whoever it is, but they always seem to come off worse in these tricky conditions.''
Leclerc then managed to fight his way back into the top 10 as the track began to dry and with the help of a Safety Car intervention. However, another mistake during a battle with Carlos Sainz for seventh place saw him drop back down the order, ultimately finishing the race in a disastrous 14th position.
