The possibility of Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull Racing is still on the table. It's a public secret that Mercedes is interested in the Dutchman. Zak Brown was asked in an interview with TSN whether he is keeping an eye on the situation. The CEO of McLaren had a surprising answer.
Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk again about a possible move from Verstappen to Mercedes. George Russell was the first to reveal that he ‘understood that Mercedes was talking to the Dutchman’, which stirred a string of rumors.

Brown follows Verstappen's situation, but not for McLaren

For now, it seems to be between Mercedes and Red Bull Racing when it comes to which team Verstappen will drive for in 2025. Brown was asked if he was still watching the situation. Here, the CEO of McLaren responded: "Yeah, but I couldn't be happier with Oscar and Lando, so short of being an interested spectator, I'm very happy with my driver lineup. I don't really spend any time on other than what pops up on my phone."
Brown spoke to TSN ahead of the IndyCar race in Toronto. Pato O'Ward, who is a racing driver for McLaren's Indcar team - Arrow McLaren, and a reserve driver for the F1 McLaren team went on to win the race.
O'Ward will participate in the 2025 Mexican Grand Prix weekend with Brown and his F1 team during the first practice session.

Will Verstappen remain with Red Bull Racing

For the time being, nothing is certain about where Verstappen will drive. The Red Bull Racing driver prefers to stay with his current team, according to GPblog, but there is still a chance that the Dutchman might leave. One desire of the four-time world champion and his entourage was that Christian Horner's control over Red Bull would be curtailed. This wish was fulfilled when Red Bull fired the team boss.
The current condition is that there must be a clear improvement by 2026. At the moment, Verstappen is not fighting for the world title, but the Dutchman would like to see this change for the coming season. If it can't be proven that there is hope for improvement compared to the current season, it is not ruled out that the Red Bull Racing driver will leave.
