Lewis Hamilton was once again on top form at the Chinese Grand Prix. Here is how the British media reacted to the seven-time world champion's first podium with Ferrari. BBC Sport
The public broadcaster highlighted not only
Kimi Antonelli's first victory in
Formula 1, but also
George Russell leading the championship and the superb battle between Hamilton and Charles Leclerc for "supremacy at Ferrari".
"Russell's second place ensures he keeps the championship lead, by four points from Antonelli, after a race compromised by losing positions following an early safety car.
"Behind them, Hamilton and Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc staged a gripping duel for the first two-thirds of the race."
The Guardian
The newspaper was also positive about Hamilton's performance in China, after he managed to finish ahead of Leclerc.
They wrote: "The seven-time world champion gave notice he has lost none of his edge, nor his competitive spirit.
"Last season, Hamilton appeared so disenchanted with the sport it felt like he was ready to call time. The difference now, a re-energised Hamilton scrapping as when at his peak, is heartening indeed."
Daily Mail
While the newspaper still considers George Russell as the favourite for the 2026 drivers' title, they wrote: "Watch your back George! That's because Kimi Antonelli became the second youngest winner in Formula One history at the Chinese Grand Prix."
About Hamilton, they added: "Hamilton, ailing all last year, had not been on the podium for 477 days. It was hard-earned in high drama, and watched by his mother Brenda, who waved to an excited pro-Hamilton crowd before the start."
