UFC legend recalls being blocked by Hamilton: 'He wrote me a long message saying that I was a coward'

Speaking on the ALF Global Podcast, Jones recalled going on a hunting trip with a group of Army Rangers, during which they hunted pigs from a helicopter using AR-15 rifles. He explained that he was proud of the hunt, adding that the pig he killed was later donated to an underprivileged family in the local community.

According to Jones, Hamilton saw footage of the hunt and sent him a lengthy message calling him a coward. The Briton also told him he believed he was better than that and argued that hunting should instead be done with a spear or a bow and arrow.

Jones went on to say that Hamilton believed hunting animals from a helicopter was cowardly and that they should instead be given a fair chance. He added that the seven-time world champion subsequently removed him from his social media accounts, leaving him disappointed as he had long admired Hamilton.

Former Formula 1 designer and former Jordan technical director Gary Anderson said he was surprised to see Hamilton making so many mistakes despite his vast experience, suggesting they could either be the result of a spell of bad luck or point to a deeper underlying issue.

Reflecting on the two penalty incidents in Hungary, Anderson argued that Hamilton was largely responsible in both cases and should take greater accountability instead of blaming the team. He also felt the Ferrari driver was failing to set the right example for younger drivers, adding that the recent mistakes had cost him a significant number of championship points.

Anderson concluded by saying that there was a clear explanation for almost all of Hamilton's recent setbacks, but criticised the seven-time world champion for not accepting responsibility. Instead, he claimed Hamilton had been too eager to place the blame elsewhere, describing that attitude as disappointing.
