Bono explains emotional team radio at Silverstone

A sobbing Lewis Hamilton appeared on the board radio after the British Grand Prix. Peter Bonnington, the Mercedes driver's race engineer, better known as Bono, explained the emotional affair after Hamilton's victory at the Silverstone circuit.

No less than 2.5 years it took Hamilton to win a Grand Prix in the king class of motorsport. That came to an end at his home Grand Prix, as last weekend he stayed ahead of Max Verstappen on soft tyres, who was faster on the hards. After the Grand Prix, an emotional Hamilton appeared on the teams radio. It also seemed Bono could not keep it less emotional either.

Payback for work, in Bonnington's opinion. "I wouldn't say crying, I had something in my eye. That's an emotional one. Yeah it's been a long, long time [since we have won a race] and he and I have been working hard trying to get back there. Baby steps but we've taken a lot of them so far," Bono told Sky Sports.
