Rubens Barrichello is almost certain that
Lewis Hamilton will beat
Michael Schumacher's records. Not only is the number of world championships within his grasp, but also other on-track records including race wins. But he also says it depends on how well
Charles Leclerc and
Max Verstappen continue to progress.
Barrichello and Schumacher have the most Grands Prix together as teammates after coming out of the same Ferrari garage for 104 races. But when he was asked by Argentinean La Nacion if he thinks Hamilton will equal his former teammates seven world championships, Barrichello replies: "Yes, he is very strong. It is no coincidence that he has won five titles in the last six years. Hamilton is still very young, so the chance he will beat Schumacher is certainly there," Barrichello added.
Of course, Hamilton and Mercedes will have to fight
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and
Ferrari hard during the season. Two of the drivers who are expected to take over as F1 flagbearers are Verstappen and Leclerc.
"Last season, youngsters like Verstappen and Leclerc also made a lot of processes," Barrichello added.
How will Ferrari get through the winter in 2020?
In recent years, the winter break hasn't gone smoothly at
Ferrari. How does Barrichello view this?
“The most important thing when you enter a new season in Formula 1 is that there are so many things that need to be improved. This is even the case if the regulations do not change. A team like Ferrari, with two important drivers, can and must improve," the veteran adds.
