Gabriel Bortoleto looks forward to the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. Months after the first-ever Audi Formula 1 car completed its first laps on track, the Brazilian is eager to return to the Spanish circuit. It was the Circuit de Barcelona where it all began for the German team, back in January. Looking back, Bortoleto said to GPblog, among others: "Oh yes, definitely, we have done a huge improvement from the winter testing, it's not even comparable, it's like a completely different series, our car right now."
"I'm looking forward to Barcelona, I believe it can be a good track for us, let's see with the power-limited zones, because our engine can suffer a little bit there, but I must say that our chassis is very good, we proved this weekend. Still [you need] to improve, do better, but I believe that we can do well there and nothing better than a bad weekend after having one new weekend and I will give my best there. I will try my best to put the team in a good position," he said positively.
Monaco shows Audi's progress according to Bortoleto
The Monaco Grand Prix ended up being one to forget for the Brazilian talent in terms of the result. After a crash in Q1, he ended up finishing 11th on Sunday after the penalties were applied.
However, he believes that Audi's pace in the Principality shows the improvements they have made so far this season. He explained: "I need to be honest with you. I thought this weekend [in Monaco] was not going to be the best for us because we still suffer with drivability problems. So a track like very low-speed like this that you need to put a lot of first gears, I thought it was going to be tough. We did some steps in drivability was much better and it was a good weekend in the sense of pace, just didn't maximize the result we could so I think we are going in the right direction and people should see this with a positive."
