Ferrari finished P3 and P4 on merit at the Austrian Grand Prix, with the team managing to have an issue-free weekend and Lewis Hamilton sees it as a stepping stone for the future.
Speaking after the race at the Red Bull Ring Hamilton said to media including GPblog: "Well I think we've moved forwards, I think the upgrade was quite small, so they didn't even mention any [lap] time [gains] because it was that small."
However, the floor upgrade did work in Hamilton's and Ferrari's favour notes the 7-time world champion. "I think perhaps there was a bigger result from putting the floor on, and so that's a real positive, really great to see the team bringing the upgrade and us moving forward."
"We've been the second fastest this weekend. Getting third and fourth is a real positive. So there's lots of good things to take from the weekend and there's lots of areas to focus on."

McLaren clearly ahead, but Hamilton hopes Ferrari will edge closer to them

Qualifying pace coud've been even better, but seeing how the race went, Hamilton didn't think a higher finishing place i.e fighting for the win against McLaren, was in the cards.
"I think qualifying was better, we found a problem that I had through my qualifying lap, which lost me a tenth, due to some issue on the car. So that's again a positive. But I would have gone backwards if I had started second anyways."
Whilst McLaren's hegemony seems impossible to contest, Hamilton doesn't give up and hopes the reported Silverstone incoming upgrade can edge them closer to their papaya rivals.
"Well, compared to McLaren, I don't think anyone's catching them. But never say never. Hopefully with our next upgrade, hopefully that works the way we hope it works. And maybe that will bring us a little bit closer. But we're not a minute down this weekend, which is great," concluded the Briton.
