Throughout the entire Austrian Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri found himself in an intense battle with his teammate Lando Norris. Halfway through the race, the Australian was catching up to Norris, until he was severely hindered by an Alpine. The team radio that followed was noteworthy.

Piastri lashes out at Alpine

“Alpine still finds a way to fuck me over all these years later.” Oscar Piastri voiced his dissatisfaction over the team radio following a previous action by Franco Colapinto. The championship leader was, in fact, engaged in an intense battle throughout the entire Austrian Grand Prix with his teammate Lando Norris.
While overtaking backmarkers, Piastri found himself in a dangerous situation. Franco Colapinto was also in the midst of an heated battle of his own, completely unaware that he needed to allow the McLaren driver past. When Piastri took it upon himself to overtake, he was subsequently pushed onto the grass. Colapinto received a five-second penalty for this incident.
With his comment, Piastri was referring back to his time as a driver at the Alpine Academy. A few years ago, the French team announced without consultation that the Australian would be driving for Alpine in 2023. Piastri then posted on his social media channels that he would not be driving for Alpine that year. Eventually, it was announced that the Australian had secured a seat at McLaren.

Max Verstappen was knocked out of the race by Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the first round. After starting seventh, the Dutchman likely had little chance of winning anyway. The battle at the front was between teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Eventually, Norris won the Austrian Grand Prix. Due to the incident between Colapinto and Piastri, the Australian indeed lost time, but the Brit was just too fast with a slightly better strategy. This allows Norris to close the gap a little on his teammate in the championship. The difference is now just fifteen points between the two.
