Fernando Alonso took full advantage of Saturday's fierce weather conditions at the Canadian Grand Prix. The Spaniard not only set the fastest time in the third free practice session but also managed to secure a second-place on the grid in qualifying a few hours later. Romain Grosjean was enjoying the situation, as he says on his YouTube channel.
At 40 years of age, Alonso is showing that he can still reach a high level. The Alpine driver has picked up speed after a rough start to the season and has finished in the top ten in each of the last four races. In Montreal, he even had the pleasure of starting right behind Max Verstappen.
"What a pleasure Fernando," Grosjean states in the video. "He has so much passion that he just dares to do it. Every time he came out of the chicane, he went to the side. He was fast on the dry track on Friday. And he was very impressive on the wet on Saturday."

Alonso fails to finish in top five

Alonso hoped his starting spot would give him a good result, but that proved more difficult. Partly due to Alpine's strategy, Alonso did not manage to finish in the top five. However, he did finish in the points with a ninth place.
