Alonso puts on untelevised radio show aimed at FOM in Mexican GP

Fernando Alonso once again made headlines in the Mexican Grand Prix — this time over radio.
Alonso’s race on Sunday was a real rollercoaster, with the Spaniard repeatedly pointing out on the radio that several drivers ahead — including Liam Lawson and Carlos Sainz — had cut Turns 1 and 2 at the start and rejoined the track much further down the road.
“I had a good start, in front of Sainz and some other people, they miss Turn 2, and they are three cars in front,” he said over the radio, pointing out the situation. “It’s very unfair that I’m in this position, after making the corners, so let’s do something. I think it’s three or four cars.”
After being informed that the FIA had noticed the corner-cutting incident at Turn 1, Alonso decided to send a direct message to FOM: “I know you’re doing everything you can. It’s because they broadcast it, all the radios that we do, privately. Hopefully they broadcast this, and they see it — that Turn 1 and 2.”

The stewards opted for a no further action verdict, which only fuelled the two-time world champion’s sarcasm over the radio: “Question for race direction, can I cut Turns 2 and 3 and pass like they do? Or should I stay on track better?”
The Spaniard’s race continued until he was forced to retire with suspected brake issues, while Lawson also pulled out after sustaining damage to his Racing Bulls.
Sainz wasn’t spared from bad luck either — he was handed a double speeding penalty in the pit lane due to problems with his wheel-rim sensors, which ultimately ruined his race.

At the end of the Singapore weekend, the Spaniard voiced criticism towards the FOM, pointing out that key moments — such as his comeback drive and the tense late-race battle between Alonso and Hamilton, as the Briton struggled with brake issues — were never shown.
Once again in Mexico, the broadcast failed to show several of Alonso’s overtakes shortly before his retirement.
