Fernando Alonso will reach the age of 41 in two months, but he is still part of Formula 1. The Spaniard indicates in an interview with Sky Sports that he continues to have faith that he can put a third world title behind his name.
Alonso started at Minardi in 2001, after which he had many successful years. At Renault he managed to win the world championship in 2005 and 2006. A few years later he tried to do the same at Ferrari, but the partnership came to nothing.
At Alpine he is in his final years, but he can't put another world title out of his mind. "That’s why I keep racing," he stressed in the interview. "There’s still always the hope that one year you will have the package and you will have all the things together to fight for the championship. I still feel competitive and fast."

Alonso keeps future in Formula 1 open for now

In doing so, Alonso does not rule out making the choice to leave Alpine and go back to a top team, even if it means becoming a second driver. According to the Madrile born, within a race stable both drivers are an important part in the whole.
