The weekend of the Russian Grand Prix started off great for McLaren driver Lando Norris. He started the race in good spirits after securing pole position and was able to fight for the win for a long time. The 21-year old driver had to settle for seventh place despite his brave attempt to drive on slicks through the rain to the finish.

Despite Norris not taking a win, it certainly wasn't a bad weekend for the Brit. His lead at the start of the race, the pole position and best race lap certainly impressed people, including ServusTV.

"My condolences go out to him, but it's nice to see his talent - his time will come. It's one of those days that builds his character. And he clearly should have pitted," David Coulthard tells us.

Could have been positive too

Mathias Lauda, ServusTV Formula 1 expert and son of Niki, explains the choice of Norris and the tactical dilemma at McLaren: "First of all, he put in a great show in qualifying. Then he drove a flawless race, despite the pressure from Lewis. As a driver you only look at the tarmac and you don't really see the sky. Lando was convinced he could get away with the slicks. You have to decide in a matter of seconds. It might as well have ended well for him."

Nobert Haug admitted that other drivers could have made the same mistake: "I think without information from the pits Lewis would have stayed out as well. I think it's great when a young driver like Norris tries something like this. This young man is very remarkable; he has shown excellent performances all season."
